Throughout November, more than 50,000 people across North America, including the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Central Ontario Chapter here in Simcoe County, will celebrate National Philanthropy Day® to pay tribute to the extraordinary achievements that philanthropy—and those involved in the philanthropic process—have made to communities across Canada, the only country to have permanently recognized the day every year.

In addition to celebrations of so many philanthropic efforts in our community, AFP Central Ontario will specifically recognize the extraordinary achievements of Barrie youth , Zach Hofer (14) who successfully raised over $100,000 to support the Child and Youth Mental Health program at Barrie’s Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre. In addition to raising funds Zach also built a community of supporters and much needed awareness for the importance of taking care of our local youth and their mental well-being.
